Start Your Scuba Diving Journey with the PADI Open Water Diver Course

Thinking about getting your scuba diving license but not sure where to start? You’re in the right place! We’re here to guide you through everything you need to know to begin your underwater adventure.

We’re excited to introduce the PADI Open Water Diver Course — the most fundamental and globally recognized scuba certification. This course is the foundation of the entire PADI system and is designed to take you from a complete beginner to a confident diver, capable of exploring the underwater world with a buddy at depths of up to 18 meters.

What You’ll Learn

The course is divided into three main components: theory, confined water sessions, and open water dives.

1. Theory

Before arriving at the dive center, you’ll receive access to comprehensive learning materials. These can be completed at your own pace, either online or in a classroom setting — whichever suits your preference.

To ensure your understanding, you’ll complete:

• 5 knowledge reviews

• 5 quizzes

• 1 final exam

2. Confined Water Sessions

There are five confined water dives, usually conducted in pool-like conditions or shallow, calm areas of the sea where you can easily surface. These sessions are where you’ll actually learn how to scuba dive in a safe, controlled environment.

One of the most important skills you’ll develop is neutral buoyancy control — a critical aspect of safe and enjoyable diving. We place special emphasis on this during your training. You’ll also learn how to handle minor underwater challenges and build the confidence needed to dive independently.

3. Open Water Dives

The open water portion of the course consists of six dives, where you’ll apply the skills you learned during your confined water sessions in real open water conditions. While some of the exercises are the same, they’ll now be practiced at greater depths and in more dynamic environments.

You’ll also be introduced to new skills — especially safe and confident descents. You’ll start by descending along a bottom line or using a rope, and progress to free descents without any visual reference. This is often the most fun — and the most challenging — part of the course. However, with practice, it becomes second nature.

Course Location: Eilat Bay

We’re proud to offer this course in Eilat Bay, one of the top diving locations in the region, thanks to its exceptional conditions:

• No storms or strong currents

• Excellent underwater visibility

• Both shallow and deep water accessible directly from shore

• Water temperatures range from 21°C in winter to 29°C in summer

• Sunny weather year-round, with winter air temperatures reaching up to 24°C

These conditions make Eilat an ideal place to learn scuba diving — any time of the year.

What’s Next?

After earning your Open Water Diver certification, many students choose to continue directly with the Advanced Open Water Diver course. This next level allows you to dive to 30 meters, try different types of dives (such as deep or night diving), and become an even more capable and confident diver.

If you choose to combine both courses, plan for a 7-day program. You’ll gain more experience, have even more fun, and finish with an advanced certification that opens up a wider world of diving adventures.
