Hello fellow divers!

So, you’ve already completed your Open Water Diver (OWD) certification and now you’re thinking, “What’s next?” Well, you’re in the perfect place! Let me introduce you to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver program, a fantastic next step for certified divers who want to enhance their skills and knowledge. It’s an exciting and fun-filled course designed to build on the foundation of your initial certification.

By now, you’re familiar with basic diving skills—how to descend, stay submerged, and safely return to the surface. But what if you could take your underwater adventures to the next level?

In the Advanced Open Water course, you’ll have the chance to:

• Explore depths greater than 18 meters

• Master underwater navigation to easily find your way around unfamiliar dive sites

• Get hands-on with underwater photography and learn how to capture stunning images

• Experience the thrill of a night dive, exploring the underwater world in a whole new light

The course consists of 6 dives, each designed to enhance your diving skills and knowledge. You’ll complete:

• A Deep Dive

• A Navigation Dive (this one’s required)

• 4 elective dives of your choice, such as:

◦ Shipwreck Dive

◦ Buoyancy Dive

◦ Fish Identification Dive

◦ Underwater Photography Dive

◦ And more!

Our dives take place at various stunning locations around Eilat, and transportation is provided by mini bus. Some of our favorite dive sites include:

• Caverns

• Princess

• Veronika

• Coral Reserves

Eilat’s crystal-clear waters, rich marine life, and beautiful dive sites make it an ideal spot for the Advanced Open Water course. Plus, diving in these locations will offer you a chance to experience some of the best that the Red Sea has to offer.

The focus of the course is diver safety, and while there is a theoretical component, the majority of the course is hands-on and practical. You’ll receive the theoretical materials beforehand, giving you the flexibility to study at your own pace.

And don’t worry—there’s no final exam! Instead, you’ll complete a few short quizzes to ensure you’ve understood the key concepts.

Many divers choose to combine their Advanced Open Water course with additional programs, like the Nitrox course. Nitrox is enriched air that allows for longer bottom times, especially on deeper dives. During the course, we’ll dive to 30 meters (100 feet), and using Nitrox helps extend your dive time, making the experience even more enjoyable.

The AOW certification is also a requirement if you wish to pursue further education, like the Rescue Diver course. As an Advanced Diver, you’ll also be qualified to dive with buddies of the same certification level, though it’s always a great idea to dive with a guide when exploring new and unfamiliar dive sites.
