Description
Hello fellow Advanced Open Water Divers!
Fancy exploring a shipwreck? You’re in the right place!
Let us introduce you to the “Yatush” — which translates to “Mosquito” in English. This fascinating patrol boat rests at a depth of 30 meters at the entrance of the Eilat Coral Beach Nature Reserve.
The Yatush has a unique and intriguing history. Originally built in the United States for freshwater operations, the boat was used during the Vietnam War for river patrols. Years later, it was gifted to Israel. However, due to its freshwater design, the Yatush faced difficulties in the saltwater conditions of the Red Sea — even capsizing multiple times. It was eventually retired and repurposed as a dive site.
Today, the wreck offers a rare opportunity to observe the differences between freshwater and seawater vessels up close. It’s an excellent dive for those interested in naval history, marine engineering, or just an unforgettable underwater experience!
Important: This site is only accessible to Advanced Open Water Divers and above, due to its depth and location. If you’re currently certified as an Open Water Diver, we’d be happy to help you upgrade your certification so you can join us on this amazing dive.
We look forward to seeing you here in Eilat — ready to dive into history!
