Safety is the foundation of every great dive, and the PADI Rescue Diver course is designed to prepare you for the unexpected. Whether you want to improve your own safety or become the diver who’s always ready to help, this is one of the most rewarding — and genuinely fun — courses you’ll ever take.

What is the PADI Rescue Diver course?

The course is built around two goals:

• Sharpening your own safety awareness — the first step to being able to help anyone else.
• Recognising and responding to dive emergencies — handling problems both on the surface and underwater.

As a Rescue Diver you’ll learn to spot the early signs of stress, fatigue, panic or confusion in other divers, and respond with the right technique for each situation.

What you’ll learn

The course blends theory with plenty of hands-on practice:

• Self-rescue and staying calm under pressure.
• Recognising and managing tired or panicked divers at the surface.
• Search-and-recovery patterns and bringing an unresponsive diver up safely.
• Managing an emergency: rescue breathing, exits and coordinating help.
• Accident prevention and dive-team awareness.

Prerequisites

You’ll need PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver or higher and current Emergency First Response (CPR & First Aid) training — we can arrange the EFR course with you if needed.
