Description
Hey fellow PADI Divemasters!
If you’re thinking about the next big step in your diving career, becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor is where it’s at. But did you know there’s a great intermediate step that can fast-track your journey? It’s the PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course.
Here’s the lowdown:
The PADI Assistant Instructor course is a fantastic way to gain more experience and move closer to becoming a full Instructor. Best part? It’s only 3 days long, as long as you’ve completed your required theory in advance. You can even take the Assistant Instructor course in Eilat, making it a perfect mix of professional development and diving in one of the most beautiful spots in the region.
One major perk? This course doesn’t require an external PADI examiner. That means you’ll work directly with your instructor throughout the process — they’ll teach, guide, and evaluate you, making the whole experience smoother and more personal.
The course is divided into three key components:
1Academic Knowledge & Standards – Dive into PADI’s educational philosophy and learn how to apply it in real-world teaching.
2Classroom Presentations – Practice handling student scenarios, answering questions, and using the PADI teaching system effectively.
3Confined & Open Water Training – Get hands-on by giving briefings, demonstrating skills, managing students underwater, and leading debriefings.
Once you’re done, you’ll earn your PADI Assistant Instructor certification — a valuable credential that opens doors. In many places, having at least AI certification is required to lead activities like Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) sessions.
And there’s more! Getting your AI cert is a smart way to build confidence and sharpen your skills before taking on the full Instructor Development Course (IDC) — and then acing the Instructor Examination (IE).
Bonus: You can sort the exam at any time, so you’re not tied to a fixed schedule. That flexibility means you can move forward on your own timeline.
Ready to take the leap and become a PADI Assistant Instructor in Eilat? Let’s do it together!
