Discover Scuba Dive or Discover Scuba Course: Which One to Choose?

Many guests who come to us for their first scuba diving in Eilat ask the same question: “Which is better — a discover scuba dive or a discover scuba diving course?”

The good news is that you really can’t go wrong. Both options for discover scuba diving in Eilat are designed for people with no diving experience and let you safely explore the underwater world of the Red Sea. The only difference is how actively you want to take part.

Discover Scuba Dive — maximum relaxation, minimum effort

If your goal is simply to try scuba diving with no experience and collect unforgettable impressions, this is the perfect choice.

You don’t need any preparation. All you have to do is breathe calmly through the regulator and equalise the pressure in your ears — something you’ve probably already done dozens of times on a plane during take-off and landing.

At the start of the try dive in Eilat, your instructor helps you get used to the new sensations. You’ll take your first breaths underwater, get comfortable with the equipment and discover that breathing underwater is far easier than it seems. After that, the instructor sets your buoyancy and handles almost all the technical tasks — leaving you free to simply enjoy the moment.

During the underwater tour you’ll see fish, corals and other wonders of the reef, with your instructor by your side the whole way to keep you comfortable and safe.

  • Maximum depth — 6 metres
  • Minimum age — 8 years
  • Available as a 30- or 50-minute dive

It’s the best choice for anyone who wants a new experience quickly, easily and with no extra training.

Discover Scuba Diving Course — more freedom, more emotion

This option suits those who like not only to watch, but also to learn. The key difference of the Discover Scuba Diving course is that you don’t just go underwater — you master one of the most rewarding skills in diving: buoyancy control. It’s exactly this skill that lets divers seem to float weightlessly in the water, without touching the bottom or drifting up to the surface.

Before the dive there’s a theory session of about an hour: you’ll learn the basic principles of diving, get to know the gear and understand how to control your body underwater. Then comes the practical part in shallow water — under your instructor’s guidance you’ll get used to breathing underwater, complete a few simple exercises and learn to hold your own buoyancy. After that, you head out on a full underwater tour.

The difference is immediate. Instead of just following your instructor, you control your own position in the water. Many guests say this is the exact moment they start to feel the real magic of diving.

  • Maximum depth — also 6 metres (the difference isn’t depth, but independence and the new skills you gain)
  • Minimum age — 12 years
  • You need to be able to swim and feel confident in the water
  • About 80 minutes underwater; the whole activity takes around 2.5 hours

So, which one should you choose?

Choose the discover scuba dive if you:

  • want to try scuba diving quickly;
  • don’t want to spend time on training;
  • prefer the instructor to handle all the technical parts;
  • just want to relax and enjoy the underwater world;
  • are 8 years or older.

Choose the Discover Scuba Diving course if you:

  • enjoy learning new skills;
  • want more independence underwater;
  • can swim and feel confident in the water;
  • are at least 12 years old;
  • want to get the most out of your first diving experience.

Whichever option you choose, the most important moment awaits you — your first breath underwater. That’s where your journey into an amazing world begins, one that most people only ever see on a screen. And then come the fish, the corals, the feeling of weightlessness and emotions that stay with you for years.

See you underwater! 🌊 🤿 🐠
