The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba certification, and Eilat is one of the best places to earn it. With warm water, shore-accessible reefs, and calm conditions, the Red Sea gives new divers an ideal training ground — and stunning scenery to enjoy while you learn.
What the course covers
The Open Water Diver course has three parts: knowledge development (dive theory you can study online before you arrive), confined-water training (practising core skills in shallow, controlled conditions), and four open-water dives where you apply those skills on real reefs. By the end, you’ll be a confident, certified diver able to plan and make dives with a buddy.
How long it takes
Most students complete the course in about three to four days. If you finish the theory online beforehand, you’ll spend more of your time in Eilat actually diving rather than sitting in a classroom. We keep schedules flexible so the course fits around your trip.
Requirements
You need to be at least 10 years old, comfortable in the water, and in reasonable health. No prior diving experience is required. If you have a medical condition, a simple health questionnaire will tell you whether a doctor’s sign-off is needed.
Why certify in Eilat
Eilat’s reefs are close to shore and rich with life, so your training dives are also genuinely beautiful dives. Year-round conditions mean you can certify in any season, and a globally recognised PADI card lets you keep diving anywhere in the world afterwards.
