Description
Hello Fellow Divers!
You’re certified as PADI Advanced Open Water and Rescue Divers—so, what’s next? You’re in the right place. Let’s talk about becoming a PADI Divemaster in Eilat!
This is the first professional level in the PADI system, and it’s an exciting step forward. Whether or not you plan to work in the dive industry, the Divemaster course offers foundational knowledge and valuable skills that will make you a more confident and capable diver.
Course Overview
The program runs for 7 days and is divided into two main parts: theory and practical training.
1. Theory
Before the course begins, you’ll receive the study materials to learn at your own pace. In class, we’ll review and discuss everything through interactive presentations.
You’ll cover topics such as:
• Diving physics and physiology
• Scuba equipment and maintenance
• Recreational Dive Planner (RDP) usage
• The underwater environment
• The role and responsibilities of a Divemaster
The theory also includes all aspects of the Divemaster’s job—like working with certified divers on guided or refresher dives, assisting instructors in entry-level and continuing education courses, and leading independent programs such as ReActivate and Skin Diver courses.
2. Practical Training
We start by familiarizing ourselves with local dive sites. As a future dive guide, you’ll learn how to assess sites for various skill levels, identify potential hazards, and understand conditions and site navigation.
Then, we simulate real-life scenarios and problem-solving exercises with your fellow Divemaster candidates—helping you build leadership and decision-making skills.
Next, you’ll assist an instructor during confined and open water sessions. You’ll learn how to demonstrate all 24 basic scuba skills, identify common student mistakes, and how to correct them effectively.
You’ll also practice your rescue techniques, develop stamina, and improve overall dive fitness.
Final Steps
Once you’ve mastered both guiding and assisting, you’ll be ready to confidently support instructors and even conduct certain programs independently.
After the course, it’s highly recommended to do an internship. Many dive centers offer internships free of charge, which is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and dive more—on the house!
Also, as a certified Divemaster, you’ll never be required to complete refresher dives or maintain a logged number of dives (though keeping logs is still a good habit!).
And remember, Divemaster certification is the prerequisite for becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
So—what’s stopping you? Let’s take that next giant stride.
