Description
PADI Divemasters and Assistant Instructors – Your Next Great Challenge Awaits!
Are you a passionate diver ready to elevate your love for the ocean? If you’ve always dreamed of turning the underwater world into your lifelong office, you’re in the right place.
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the most comprehensive and respected training program for dive professionals. This course is recognized by the American Council on Education, proving its high standards and academic rigor. As part of the world’s most popular and globally recognized diving education system, PADI has opened countless career doors for PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors (OWSI) worldwide.
Whether you want to work in the Maldives, the Caribbean, or become an OWSI in Eilat, one of the Red Sea’s most spectacular dive destinations, the IDC is your gateway to an exciting career.
What to Expect from the IDC
The IDC is an intensive 14-day program that prepares you to go from Divemaster to a certified PADI OWSI. The course culminates in the Instructor Examination (IE), a two-day evaluation of your knowledge and teaching skills.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
Theory
The course kicks off with a thorough review of PADI educational standards and five key knowledge areas:
•Physics
•Physiology
•Scuba Equipment
•The RDP (Recreational Dive Planner)
•Diving Skills and the Aquatic Environment
You’ll begin preparing these topics before the course. During the IDC, we’ll review them together until you’re fully comfortable in each area.
Classroom Presentations
You’ll learn how to confidently deliver academic presentations using the PADI system. By the end, you’ll be ready to teach classroom sessions for divers of all levels—from Open Water Diver to Divemaster.
Confined Water Teaching
In a controlled pool or confined water environment, you’ll practice:
•Briefing and demonstrating skills
•Solving problems
•Maintaining group control and safety
•Debriefing students effectively
Open Water Teaching
Next, you’ll move to open water. This is where real-world challenges come into play. You’ll focus on:
•Controlled descents
•Surface management in currents and waves
•Adapting to different ocean conditions
This hands-on experience will prepare you for any dive environment, helping you become a versatile and skilled instructor.
The Final Step: The Instructor Examination
After 12 days of intensive training, you’ll take the Instructor Exam (IE), led by a PADI examiner. This is the final test of your theoretical knowledge and practical teaching abilities. While challenging, it’s also rewarding. Once you pass, you’ll be a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). This certification opens doors to dive job opportunities worldwide, including in Eilat, with its vibrant coral reefs in the Red Sea.
