Tec 45 Course in Eilat: Your First Step Into Real Technical Diving

You can reach 40 metres as a recreational diver. But everything past that — staying deep longer, planning decompression and getting out of it safely — is a different world. The Tec 45 course is where technical diving really begins.

What is Tec 45

Tec 45 is the second step on PADI’s technical path, after Tec 40. On the course you learn to plan and carry out decompression dives to 45 metres, including repetitive dives, using a single decompression cylinder with up to 100% oxygen.

Oxygen at the deco stops shortens your ascent and adds a safety margin. That’s the main difference from Tec 40 — and it’s the step that leads on to Tec 50.

What you learn

  • Gas planning: how much you need, what the reserve is and how to calculate it
  • Advanced decompression and decompression models
  • Switching to oxygen at the right depth, without mistakes
  • Emergency drills: regulator failure, gas loss, a problem with the deco cylinder
  • Thinking like a tech diver: a plan, a backup plan, and discipline all the way up

Why sidemount

I teach Tec 45 in sidemount configuration. Two cylinders at your sides instead of doubles on your back: easier on the shore, more stable in the water, and every valve is in front of your eyes and within reach. If something goes wrong, you see it and fix it fast.

No sidemount yet? The Sidemount course is a great base before Tec 45.

How the course runs

4 days, 4 dives. Theory and planning, skills practice in the water, then real decompression dives to 45 metres with a switch to oxygen.

Deco dives don’t start from an ordinary beach. We head to special sites — the deep part of the reserve opposite Lighthouse Beach, and for Tec 50 usually the canyon behind the Satil wreck. The Red Sea gives you a rare combination here: depth close to shore, warm water and good visibility almost all year.

Who can join

  • Tec 40 certification
  • Rescue Diver and current first aid
  • At least 50 logged dives, with at least 10 deeper than 30 metres
  • Age 18 or older
  • From age 45, a doctor’s medical note is required

No Tec 40? Message me on WhatsApp and I’ll explain how to get there.

Price

₪5,500. Includes all gear, gases (nitrox and oxygen for decompression) and the PADI materials kit in English.

What’s next

Tec 45 is the foundation for Tec 50, where we go to 50 metres and work with several gases: a bottom gas and decompression gases.

FAQ

Can I do Tec 45 without Tec 40?
No — Tec 40 is a PADI requirement. Message me and we’ll build a path that starts with it.

Do I need my own gear?
No, all gear and gases are included. Have your own sidemount setup? Great — you can dive in it.

How long is a deco dive?
It depends on the plan — and on the course you build the plan yourself. That’s exactly what you learn.

Is it dangerous?
Technical diving takes discipline, not bravery. The course is built so you know what to do before anything happens.
