Katza — A Hidden Gem Dive Site in Eilat
Katza is one of Eilat’s most rewarding and lesser-known dive sites, beloved by local divers and knowledgeable visitors who want to escape the crowds. Located in the southern part of the Gulf of Aqaba near Eilat, Katza offers a pristine reef environment with exceptional biodiversity and dramatic underwater topography.
What to Expect at Katza
The Katza dive site features a stunning coral wall that drops from the shallows to deeper water, forming an impressive reef slope covered in hard and soft corals. The site is rich in reef fish including parrotfish, butterflyfish, pufferfish, and triggerfish. Moray eels are common residents tucked into the reef’s crevices, and patient divers may spot stingrays resting on the sandy bottom.
One of Katza’s standout features is its macro life — nudibranchs, shrimps, and small crustaceans can be found throughout the reef, making it a favourite for underwater photographers. The relatively calm conditions also make it ideal for night diving.
Dive Level and Conditions
Katza is suitable for divers from Open Water level and above. Depths range from a shallow reef top at 5–8 meters to a wall that descends to 25+ meters. The Red Sea’s consistently warm and clear water makes visibility excellent throughout the year, often 15–25 meters.
