Ready to push past the 18-metre limit and explore the deep blue? The PADI Deep Diver Specialty teaches you to plan and make dives safely all the way to 40 metres — where whole new underwater worlds open up. Here’s what the course covers, who it’s for, and what it costs in Eilat.
What you’ll learn
Deep diving is exhilarating, but it changes the rules — and this course gives you the skills to handle those changes with confidence. You’ll learn:
- Deep dive planning — how to map out a dive, watch your air consumption, and calculate your no-decompression limits.
- Managing the risks — understand nitrogen narcosis (the “narc” you can feel at depth) and how to stay calm and in control in deeper water.
- The right gear — how to use kit made for depth, like larger tanks and depth gauges, so your deep dives are smooth and safe.
- Safety procedures — dive confidently knowing exactly what to do if you run low on air or need to ascend in an emergency.
A big focus of the course is slow, controlled ascents — the single most important habit for avoiding decompression sickness.
Four real deep dives
You learn this by doing it. The course includes four deep dives over about two days, where you’ll explore new depths, practise navigation, and build real confidence in your skills — not from a textbook, but on Eilat’s own deep sites and formations.
Who it’s for
Deep Diver is for divers who already hold an Advanced Open Water certification (or a recognised equivalent) and want to go deeper safely. Advanced introduces you to depth on a single dive; Deep Diver turns that into a real, confident skill all the way down to 40 m. Not there yet? Take the Advanced Open Water course first.
Pair it with Nitrox
Deep dives are exactly where Nitrox pays off most: more oxygen in the tank means longer bottom time at depth. Many divers take the Enriched Air (Nitrox) course alongside Deep Diver to get the most out of every deep dive.
Why do it in Eilat
Eilat’s clear, warm water and steep, dramatic sites make it a superb place to learn deep diving. Your deep dives here reveal formations and marine life you won’t see in the shallows — and famous deeper sites like the Satil wreck become part of your playground. (See the whole coast in our guide to the best dive sites in Eilat.)
