The Red Sea is one of the few places where diving is genuinely year-round. While Europe is under snow, Eilat dives every day — and many instructors consider winter the best season. Here’s why.
Water and air temperature
In winter the water in Eilat stays around 21–23°C — warmer than most European seas are in summer. Daytime air is a comfortable 18–25°C. In a good 5–7 mm wetsuit (included in all our programs) a dive is completely comfortable.
Visibility and reef life
Winter visibility is often even better than in summer — less suspended matter and plankton, up to 20–30 metres. The reef is fully alive: turtles, morays, lionfish and rays are all there. On the Satil wreck and in the Caves it’s the same scene as in August, just without the crowds.
Fewer people — more attention
Winter is low tourist season. That means free parking at the best dive sites, empty water and a flexible schedule. For learning it’s ideal: your instructor is focused on you alone.
